Staff Pick: The Man With The Getaway Face

For fans of Darwyn Cooke, this staff pick is a no-brainer. For fans of comics, this should be a no-brainer. Continuing his critically-acclaimed adaptation of Richard Stark's master criminal series, Parker, Cooke's 24-page prelude to The Outfit (due out in October via IDW)is the perfect condensation of all the best pulp, noir tropes: violence, back-stabbing, melodrama, and a tragic love for/hatred for women. Best is that all this is included over the course of a perfectly-paced 24-page story.

Here's a taste of the plot: After making his way through the tumultuous events of Cooke's previous book, The Hunter, Parker finds himself with a new face and a motivation to make some money. After an old friend comes to Parker with a new job(the robbery of an armored car), Parker accepts the deal, setting into motion a pitch-perfect crime vignette. Need I even mention the possibility of double-crossing?

Oh, and Parker--now with a brand-new face--has never looked better in this 8"x12" format. We've got it here at Time Warp and it's priced at two measly bucks.
